Abstract: The goal of this project is to develop decision support software for efficient operating room scheduling in hospitals. The cooperation partners in this project are the software company OrgaCard Siemantel & Alt GmbH and hospitals of diverse sizes. We want to provide both robust operating room schedules and optimal response strategies in the case of deviations from the original schedule. Such discrepancies are common in the operating room and frequently caused by medical emergencies. Our methods combine machine learning and mathematical optimization, especially mixed-integer programming and optimization under uncertainty.
