At the Fundamental AI Lab of the University of Technology Nuremberg, we are developing core technologies for the next generation of foundation models. Our research focuses on post-pretraining and instruction tuning to fine-tune pretrained models for specific tasks, maximizing their efficiency and performance.
Another key area is self-supervised learning, which enables models to learn from unstructured data without the need for manually labeled datasets, making the training process more scalable.
We also explore vision-language and multimodal learning, empowering AI models to intelligently combine visual and textual information. Additionally, by advancing reasoning and planning in large language models (LLMs), we aim to integrate complex logical thinking and decision-making capabilities into AI systems.
